Privacy notice
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Hoppd helps you find a replacement flight when your flight is cancelled or delayed. To do that we need some of your data. This notice explains which data, what we use it for, and who we share it with.
1. Who is responsible
Hoppd (hoppd.io). For any question or request about your data, write to hello@hoppd.io.
2. What data we collect
- Account: your email address and your password. The password is stored protected (encrypted) by our authentication provider; we cannot see it.
- Airline emails you forward: when you forward an email to your private Hoppd address, an artificial intelligence model reads its text to extract only the airline, flight number, confirmation code, route, date and whether the flight was cancelled. We store only that extracted data, not the full text of the email. We recommend not forwarding emails that are not about your trips.
- Connected Gmail (optional): if you choose "Connect Gmail", you give Hoppd read-only access to your mailbox. Hoppd searches only for messages that look like flight bookings or notices, and an artificial intelligence model reads those to extract the same flight data as above (airline, flight number, confirmation code, route, date, whether it was cancelled). We store only that extracted data, not the emails. We never send, delete or change anything in your mailbox. Our connection token is stored encrypted. You can disconnect at any time from your account, which also revokes our access at Google, or from your Google account's security settings.
- Booking data: if you book a flight through Hoppd, we collect each passenger's name, date of birth, gender, phone and email, as the airline requires. We keep the booking record, which includes that data.
- Saved traveler details: if you leave "Save these details" checked when you book, we keep the first passenger's title, name, date of birth, gender and phone so the next booking form is pre-filled. You can delete them at any time from your account ("Delete saved details").
- Minimal technical data: server logs needed to keep the app working and secure.
3. What we use it for
- Create and maintain your account.
- Detect cancellations of your flights and find you alternatives.
- Notify you by email when your flight is cancelled.
- Process and store your bookings.
- Keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We use providers that process data on Hoppd's behalf, only to provide the service:
- Supabase: authentication and database.
- Anthropic: reads the text of the emails you forward to extract the flight details. See their privacy policy to learn how they handle information received through their API.
- Duffel and airlines: to search and book flights, the passenger data needed to issue the ticket is shared.
- FlightAware: receives only the flight number and date to know whether the flight was cancelled.
- Postmark: receives the emails you forward to your private address.
- Resend: sends the email notices.
- Railway: hosts the application.
We may also share data if a competent authority requires it by law.
Hoppd's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use Gmail data only to detect your flights and warn you about cancellations. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and no person at Hoppd reads your emails except where you ask for support, it is needed for security or to comply with the law.
5. Payments
Hoppd does not store card numbers. When payments are enabled, card data will be processed directly by the payment provider, without passing through our servers.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. Bookings may be kept longer when the law requires it or to handle claims. When you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your data, except what we must keep by legal obligation.
7. Your rights
You can delete your account and data yourself at any time from your account ("Delete my account"). You can also ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its use. Write to hello@hoppd.io from your account email and we will reply as soon as possible.
8. Security
We protect your data with encrypted connections, restricted access to our systems and keys that we rotate regularly. No system is completely infallible; if an incident affecting you occurs, we will let you know.
9. Minors
Hoppd is not aimed at people under 18. If you need to travel with minors, bookings must be made by their parents or guardians.
10. Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, we will publish the new version here with its update date.
